The Board of Directors ensure good governance, effective control systems and protection of shareholder value. They are also responsible for ensuring that the decisions made are in line with the values of the Company.

Abdul Samad Dawood

Chairman

Since 2015, Mr. Abdul Samad Dawood has served as Chairman of the Board of FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan (previously Engro Foods). He is also presently Vice Chairman of the Board of Dawood Hercules Corporation (DH Corp), an investment company of the Dawood Group. Prior to this role, he was Vice Chairman of the Board of Engro Corporation which remains one of DH Corp’s largest investments to date.

Mr. Abdul Samad Dawood’s experience of management and governance spans over 20 years with a special interest in mergers and acquisitions. He has led more than US$ 4 billion of M&A deals, including the Dawood Group’s acquisition of HUBCO from National Power International Holdings in 2012 and the sale of DH Fertilizers to Fatima Fertilizer Company in 2015. Mr. Abdul Samad Dawood was also entrusted with the responsibility of leading the merger of Engro Foods (a subsidiary of Engro Corporation) into global dairy giant Royal FrieslandCampina based on the convergence of their values, goals, and abilities to address Pakistan’s nutritional challenges; he has since served as Chairman of the Board of the merged entity. These efforts are a culmination of the values advocated by Group Chairman, Mr. Hussain Dawood, who believes a strong code of values builds the foundation for effective problem-solving and human prosperity.

Mr. Abdul Samad Dawood is also an active director on the Board of Pakistan Business Council, a pan-industry advocacy group that promotes easing of barriers to enable Pakistani businesses to compete in regional and global arenas. His corporate governance journey spans various sectors including financial investments, energy, and education; in line with his interests, he is also Chairman of the Board of Cyan Ltd, and a Director on the Boards of The Dawood Foundation, KSBL, Dawood Lawrencepur Ltd, and Reon (Pvt) Ltd. In addition to governance, Mr. Dawood has served as Chief Executive Officer for Dawood Hercules Corporation Ltd and Cyan Ltd, and is an active member of the Young Presidents Organization.

Aside from work, Mr. Abdul Samad Dawood has a keen interest in music and plays the piano and guitar. He is an Economics graduate from University College London, UK and a certified director of corporate governance from the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance.

Ali Ahmed Khan

Director

Mr. Khan has built a rich, diverse career spanning over 25 years in top management positions with some of the leading FMCG’s in Pakistan. Having joined FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Limited in March 2017, Mr. Khan brings with him strong insights into industry leaderships, and has been credited in the past with turning businesses around. As Managing Director at FCEPL, Mr. Khan has actively pursued new market opportunities and delivered successful strategies that have introduced innovation and responsible marketing. Not only this, he has upped the standards of quality and nutritional safety for our consumers, drawing from his prior experience with leading Personal Care at Iffco in the UAE and Far East, and as CEO of Reckitt Benckiser, Pakistan. He has also been associated with Pakistan Tobacco Company as the Marketing & Sales Director, and with Pepsi Cola International as Head of Marketing. He hails from the Institute of Business Administration and Karachi University.

Roel F. van Neerbos

Director

Mr. Neerbos joined FrieslandCampina in January 2017, bringing with him a world of priceless business experience. As Chief Operating Office Consumer Products Europe, Middle East and Africa of Royal FrieslandCampina, Mr. Neerbos oversees a vast geographic territory, examining the distinctive markets with regards to their standards of living, dairy consumption and sophistication of retail environment. He also operates in balancing strategies between value-added growth and milk valorization. Mr. Neerbos has been leading the new Business Group Consumer Dairy Global since January 2018, prior to which he was Chief Executive Officer of Maxeda, a Do-it-Yourself retailer with 350 stores and 7000 employees across the Benelux. He has also remained the President Continental Europe of Heinz, and has served as Senior Vice President Iberia, EEMEA and Latin America for Mattel. The first 16 years of his career were occupied by various executive positions at Procter & Gamble in the Netherlands, Belgium, Yemen and Morocco. He has studied Business Administration at the University of Groningen.

Zouhair Khaliq

Director

An international business executive with experience in board level strategy, M&A, turnarounds, telecommunications, mobile financial services, microfinance and real estate, Mr. Khaliq has vast experience in diverse fields that he is now bringing to FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Limited. He is the Managing Partner at ICE Advisory LLP, holding a portfolio of Advisory & Non-Executive Board positions. Previously, he has worked with Orascom Telecom Holdings, the GSMA, Gemini Holdings, Motorola UK, the Dhabi Group, Millicom International, the ICI Group and PWC. He was the CEO of Mobilink between 2003-2008, and grew the company from 1 million to 31 million customers. Mr. Khaliq has also served on the boards of mobile operators in Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Jordan, and on the boards of the public sector at the Islamabad Stock Exchange and ICT R&D Fund. He was previously the Non-Executive Director on the board of Du Telecom – Emirates Integrated Telecom Investment Holdings Limited, along with being the Senior Advisor at Voltaire Capital UK & on the Advisory Board of Ding Ireland, a mobile top-up company. He is currently on the Advisory Board of Field Force LLC USA, a software analytics company. He is also a member of the Board of Regents of Harris Manchester College, Oxford University UK, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and an alumni of INSEAD, France.

Abrar Hasan

Director

Mr. Hasan is the CEO of National Foods Limited, the leading multi-category food company in Pakistan. His expertise in curating new market opportunities and focusing on innovation has led the Company to build a clearer vision for future growth, leading to becoming a Rs. 50 bn company by the year 2020. He has delivered successful strategies in the past by keeping a swift focus on innovation, adherence to the highest standards of quality, and building superior customer value. He is an ardent supporter of CSR causes, and has the initiation of the Adult Literacy Programme to his credit, developed in collaboration with The Citizens Foundation, aiming to equip rural women with basic literacy skills. Prior to this, he spearheaded the development of a Sustainability Strategy, which guides all business functions across the board today. He has received numerous accolades, including the Marketing Excellence Award 2008 from the Marketing Association of Pakistan, and the Best Work Place Award 2015. He is a member of the Board of Directors for several strategic forums such as the Associated Textile Consultants, Cherat Packaging Ltd., Pakistan Business Council & the Health Foundation. Mr. Hasan is a graduate of the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University, Indiana, US.

Edward Holtzer

Director

Mr. Holtzer has been the Finance Director of FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy since 2012, before which he held several leadership positions at Unilever, a.o. Vice President Finance at Unilever, Spain, and Director M&A at Unilever Corporate Centre in the UK. He holds a Master’s in Business Economics at the University of Brabant, Netherlands, and a Post-Graduate degree in Controlling/Management Accounting at VU University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. He joined the Board of FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Limited in 2018.

Petra Zinkweg

Director

Currently the Business Group HR Director. Consumer Dairy of FrieslandCampina N.V., Ms. Zinkweg has held a variety of management positions at both FrieslandCampina and Unilever. With extensive experience in Human Resource and Marketing, Ms. Zinkweg is an incomparable resource for us and has been working towards introducing the industry’s best practices into the Company. She hails from the Free University of Amsterdam, through which she has done Master’s in Sports Science. She joined the Board of FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Limited in 2018.
