Engro Foods contribution to dairy sector highlighted at Sargodha conference

A two-day international food and nutrition research conference and expo was organised by the University of Sargodha and concluded with far-reaching recommendations for the growth of dairy and food Sectors in Pakistan.

Engro Foods was a partner of the conference.

Dr Muhammad Nasir spoke about Engro’s contribution to Pakistan’s dairy sector and development of dairy products. He presented a model-framework discussing detailed plan to develop the local dairy sector. These plans have a potential of contributing than Rs1 trillion to the country’s GDP.

According to Dr Muhammad Nasir, “Pakistan has tremendous potential to increase its milk production, per-capita consumption, and huge surplus generation for exports but is linked to an enabling environment and establishment of a formal dairy value chain as per best global practices.”

Foreign investors have shown an interest in establishing ultra-modern dairy industry in Pakistan, he said. This is mainly correlated with the conducive environment and ease of doing business in the sector, he added.

This conference was attended by key scientists, industry professionals and renowned professors from the USA, UK, Malaysia, Egypt, Iran, and others.

Engro Foods’ participation at conferences such as these adds to its list of contributors to the dairy sector, helping progress towards the nation’s promising future.
